Firstly, happy new year to everyone. Hopefully you all had a good Christmas and I hope you escaped the dreaded lurgy. Sadly I didn’t and it somewhat messed up our Christmas plans – but not the end of the world.

Anyway, onto the reason for this post. I am a member of a number of Facebook Railway groups. On the Railways of Devon and Cornwall group, someone posted the list to the video below. It’s a presentation from Christian Irwin of Network Rail and Matt Barnes of GWR, who both played key roles in bringing forward the build. Matt and also worked closely with OkeRail for many years and was a real advocate and asset for our goals.

I thought you may be interested in their take from a “rail” perspective on the build. A couple of comments. Many of the reasons referred to were the repeated messages we gave while we were campaigning. This is particularly satisfying, because it proves that we were listened to. It also serves as a lesson for all those who are campaigning that if you have a clear focused message, repetition works!
