The campaign for the line has involved many people over many years. There have been lots of false dawns, but we now have finally succeeded in bringing the service back.
Check out our timeline for the key dates relating to the line.
Of course campaigning will continue. For a start Okehampton Parkway station is a critical element in the longevity of the line.

Overview of the Location of Okehampton Parkway Station

Zoom View of the Location of Okehampton Parkway Station
The images above show the intended location of the new Parkway Station. From the images, you can see the position would serve the town well.
Firstly it is near the developing part of the town. More new houses are building built on the eastern side, and all will be walking distance from the new station.
Secondly there are a good number of businesses who will be able to utilise the railway who are nearby.
Finally good accessibility. As it can be seen from the first image, it will be close to the White House Services junction of the A30. This will allow easy access to rail services for those who live outside or away from the town. Communities such as Bude, Holsworthy, Tavistock and Launceston.
Of course we will continue to campaign for further improvements. These include bus / rail connectivity and faster services, through trains to further destinations. We of course are also committed to seeing the route continue west to connect to Plymouth.
However these things take time, and it is important that the line is used and supported by you.
